The Making of the New Collection
久しぶりに新作を追加します。今回は原点に立ち返り、ミニマルなデザインの中に程よいアクセントを効かせたリングを目指しました。今後、彫刻のラインナップをより充実させていくので、ベースとなるシグネットリングのコレクションを拡充していきます。
お名前やイニシャルを入れられるパーソナライズアイテムのほか、模様やイラストを施したデザインも増やしていく予定です。もちろん、これまで通り刻印のないプレーンなデザインや誕生石/天然石を留めたものも引き続きご用意していきます。
It has been a while since I last added a new piece to the collection. This time, I wanted to return to the basics—creating a minimalist ring with just the right touch of character. To expand our engraving lineup going forward, we are broadening the foundation of our signet ring collection.
Alongside personalized pieces featuring names or initials, I plan to introduce designs with delicate motifs and illustrations. Of course, classic plain designs and gemstone options will continue to be available as always.
新しい作品を作るときは、何度も試作を重ねます。日常の所作の中でストレスがないか、シルエットがもっとも美しく見えるかを確かめ、気になるところがあれば妥協せず修正していきます。
今回のリングも、一度は原型作りからゴム型作成、鋳造まで進めていたのですが……「もう少しだけバンド幅を細くした方が、より美しく見えるのでは？」と思い直し、一から作り直すことにしました。太いデザインが違っていたわけではなく、今回のコレクションでは存在感を持たせつつも、すっきりと控えめな佇まいに仕上げたかったからです。
When creating a new piece, I go through countless iterations. I test how comfortable it feels in daily movement and whether the silhouette looks its best from every angle, refining each detail until I am completely satisfied.
For this ring, I had actually already progressed through master modeling, rubber mold making, and casting… but found myself thinking, “A slightly narrower band might look even better.” Unwilling to compromise, I decided to start over from scratch. It wasn’t that a wider band looked bad, but for this collection, I wanted an understated, sleek presence.
今回、作り直しのタイミングでCADを使った3Dデータのモデリングから3Dプリント、そして鋳造という工程を取り入れてみました。
以前のブログでも少し触れましたが、慣れないデジタル造形は一筋縄ではいかず、試行錯誤の連続でした……！それでも何とか納得のいく形に仕上がり、現在はリリースに向けて着々と準備を進めています。
Since I was starting fresh anyway, I decided to take on a new approach: creating the 3D data in CAD, 3D printing the model, and casting from there.
As I mentioned in a previous post, working with unfamiliar digital tools was far from straightforward and involved a lot of trial and error…! Even so, I was able to achieve a form I am genuinely happy with, and preparation for the release is now well underway.
リングだけでなく、自転車アクセサリーの制作においてもじっくりと時間をかけて試作を繰り返してきました。現在は全体のデザインに統一感を持たせつつ、サイズ展開や汎用ボルトに対応したバージョンの実用テストを行っています。
ほかにも並行して試作を進めているアイテムがいくつかありますので、納得のいく仕上がりになりましたら、またブログでご紹介させていただきます。楽しみにお待ちいただけると嬉しいです。
Beyond jewelry, I have also been taking time to refine prototypes for our bicycle accessories. While maintaining a cohesive aesthetic, I am currently running functional tests on different sizes and a version compatible with standard bolts.
There are several other items in development as well. Once they reach a finish I am fully confident in, I will share them here on the blog. I hope you will look forward to what’s coming next.
